Francisco "Pancho" Navarro
From his album, Sweet Guitar (Soundbrush Records). Francisco is from Mendoza Argentina, and lived in Chile, and for ten years in Mexico before coming to NY. In Mexico he worked with many major Mariachi groups, and won first guitarist at Mexico’s Festival Ranchero de la Cancion for three consecutive years. His playing can be heard on the soundtracks of films: “Mambo Kings”, “Flawless”, “Frida” and “Across the Universe” as well as numerous recordings, including “Bamboleo” with Celia Cruz, & Willie Colon, “Guasasa” with Johnny Pacheco, and “WEA Carobe Tito Nieves En Otra Onda”. Pancho has recorded with the Rolling Stones, appeared in Frank Loesser’s musical about Mexico “Senor Discretion Himself” and performs with Placido Domingo.
